A cold, crisp morning greeted me. The sun poked quite strongly from the east. The cold kept the snow crunching under my feet as I walked. It’s been cold the entire week, a sharp contrast to the thaw a few weeks ago. It’s a reminder that it’s still winter in Canada. Fortunately sometimes the winter can be kind. The streets are clear and even the sidewalks are clean for the most part.

Here comes the sun!

The garden hides again.

Bright and cold.

Light and shadow at play.

A place to sit.

The giant’s escape is thwarted.

Still no snow but the desolation has its own beauty. A deserted gazebo hides among the naked trunks. A path is uncovered between the trees.

The cemetery is more sinister on this dark morning.

A haunting tree.

Revealed.

A hint of sun in the distance.

A heat wave melted the early January snow and revealed the sleeping ground beneath.

The garden revealed!

Not much light over the bridge today.

I like the juxtaposition of the fence and the trees as if the trees would escape if not for the fence keeping them in.

A tiny peek of the sun.

A lonely bench.

The evergreen looks like it misses the snow.

The giant’s fingers have been freed from the snow. Still no sign of the rest of his body.

This cluster of trees makes me think of a trapped giant, pressing his tree fingers out through the snow, reaching for the sky.

I love the sunlight peeking over the trees.
